My Role: Product Design Consultant
In an oversaturated market, new products need to shine visually, but also communicate a unique value proposition. I was contracted to design a 0-1 prototype of Fredo - an app that connects recruiters with hiring managers.
The founder broke it down for me. Hiring managers are looking for two things:
We came up with a simple model that standardizes payment amounts for each stage of the interview process.
One thing most HR platforms have in common is they tend to be feature rich and visually overloaded. 0-1 products have an advantage here because they are focused on only a few key interactions.
With this in mind I worked with the founder to scope out the user flows for the hiring manager and recruiter. User flows help clarify the scope of the solution and understand what each user needs to do.
The first prototype I created demonstrates how a hiring manager might search for recruiters. Here we show value by using user inputs and performance data to surface the top three most qualified partners.
The second prototype demonstrates how job candidates are shared with the hiring manager. A key element of this design is communicating the cost of moving the candidate to the next stage of the process.
Most HR apps are desktop only, but the simplicity of Fredo called for a responsive design, demonstrating how the app might look on smaller devices.
